Nilambur, Kerala has been producing the world's finest teak for over 175 years. The trees we source are 50 to 100+ years old — felled by the Kerala Forest Department on a strict rotation, never replanted for speed. The timber is dense, oiled by decades of natural growth, and carries a Geographical Indication tag that can only apply to wood from this region.
Plantation teak — which accounts for most teak furniture sold in India — is harvested at 25 to 40 years. The difference in natural oil content, density, and dimensional stability over a lifespan of daily use is not marginal. It is generational.
A Royal Nilambur sofa set is not furniture you replace. It is furniture you pass on.
The Making
"The frame of a Royal Nilambur sofa begins as timber that has been growing in a Kerala hillside forest for six decades. It does not begin as a purchase order placed on a manufacturing platform."
Each log is sourced from Kerala Forest Department auctions in Malappuram and seasoned for a minimum of twelve months at our yard in Edavanna — reducing moisture content to 12% or below before any cutting begins. This step alone is why our joinery doesn't loosen in Kerala humidity the way most furniture does.
Every structural joint is mortise-and-tenon: wood cut to interlock under compression, requiring no fasteners, only precision. The same connection technique used in Kerala's colonial-era furniture — the pieces that are still structurally intact in homes built before Indian independence. After shaping, the frame is tested under load before finishing. Finishing is done by hand, with teak oil worked into the grain.
When your order is confirmed, we photograph the timber selected for your piece and send it to you via WhatsApp. You can see the grain, the colour, the character of the wood before a single joint is cut.
"My parents had old Nilambur teak furniture from the 1970s. When I wanted the same for my own home, Royal Nilambur was the only brand that could actually verify where the wood came from. Two years in — it hasn't moved, hasn't loosened, hasn't changed. It looks exactly as it did the day it arrived."
The Guarantee
10 years.
No fine print.
Every joint, every frame — covered for a decade against structural failure. We can offer this because the timber and the joinery make anything less feel dishonest.

Every piece is made to order. Sofa depth, arm height, seat height, and leg style can all be adjusted at no additional cost. Tell us your room dimensions and we'll suggest what works.
Finish
Natural teak oil preserves the wood's original warm gold. A walnut stain deepens it. Ebony brings it close to black, with the grain still visible. All finishes age beautifully.
Common Questions
What wood is used in Royal Nilambur sofa sets?

Can I customise the dimensions or finish of a sofa set?
Yes. Since every piece is made to order, dimensions — sofa depth, arm height, seat height, leg style — can be adjusted at no extra cost. Finish options include natural teak oil, medium walnut stain, and deep ebony. WhatsApp us to discuss.
What is the delivery timeline?
Our sofa sets are handcrafted to order and take 4–8 weeks from order confirmation. Free delivery with in-home assembly is available across Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana.
What does the 10-year warranty cover?
The 10-year structural warranty covers all joinery, frame integrity, and manufacturing defects. It does not cover surface wear from normal use or colour changes from sunlight (which is natural with teak and considered beautiful). The warranty is transferable.
